Boston Triathlon club travelled down to the big smoke on the weekend of 28th July to take part in the Live to Tri London Triathlon.
This spectacular triathlon, in the centre of our iconic capital city, offers three different distances, Super Sprint, Sprint and Olympic. The London Triathlon has something for every triathlete, from the first timer to the more seasoned competitor. It is one of the largest triathlons in the world, attracting thousands of participants and 30,000 spectators each year making this event a must-do in anybody’s sporting calendar. All the competitors from Boston Triathlon Club had chosen to cover the longest distance available with all five signing up for Olympic distance waves.
The London Triathlon is based at the ExCeL Centre with the hall holding both the transition and a loop of the run course, the 1500m swim took place in the Royal Victoria Dock situated along side the exhibition centre. After passing through the ExCeL to collect their bikes it was off on a unique 40km urban ride, passing iconic London landmarks on the way to Westminster before turning at Big Ben and heading to Billingsgate, finally heading back to the ExCel to start the run. The 10km run took the triathletes out into Docklands for four loops taking in views of the City airport and a section in the ExCel Centre, finishing in the exhibition hall itself.
Again Boston Triathletes took the opportunity to raise money and awareness of the Clubs chosen charity for 2019, Sarcoma. The triathletes and club would like to thank all those who made a contribution to Sarcoma UK, your support is massively appreciated.
